Optimize Water and Lighting Effects

Fine-Tune Water Animation

HighFrames includes animated water that moves realistically. In the Shader Options, locate the Water Settings section. You can adjust wave speed and intensity—higher values create more dramatic movement but use more GPU resources. For a balance between beauty and performance, set to medium.

Customize Bloom on Light Sources

The bloom effect makes torches, lava, glowstone, and other bright blocks glow softly. This is visually striking but can impact frame rate in heavily lit areas.

  • Reduce Bloom Radius to make glows tighter and less demanding.
  • Lower Bloom Threshold if you want fewer blocks to glow, or raise it to make only the brightest sources bloom.

Manage Shadow Softness

Soft shadows are a signature feature of HighFrames. In shadow settings, you can adjust shadow distance (how far shadows render from your character) and softness. Reducing shadow distance helps performance in open areas while keeping nearby shadows detailed.

Test in Different Environments

Visit caves, forests, and water areas to see how your adjustments look. Caves benefit from bloom tuning, while forests show shadow quality clearly.
