Maximize Frame Rate on Low-End Hardware

Disable Non-Essential Effects

HighFrames is designed for older hardware, but you can push performance further. In Shader Options, disable:

  • Ambient Occlusion (darkening in corners)
  • Parallax Mapping (if available)
  • Volumetric Lighting (light rays through air)

These features add visual depth but aren't core to HighFrames' appeal.

Lower Resolution-Based Settings

Reduce Shadow Resolution and Bloom Resolution to lower values. This decreases the detail of shadows and glows but significantly improves frame rate. The visual difference is often minimal on smaller screens.

Minimize Draw Distance

In Minecraft's Video Settings, lower Render Distance to 8-12 chunks. Combined with HighFrames' optimized rendering, this keeps frame rates high even on integrated graphics.

Disable Unnecessary Vanilla Features

Turn off Clouds, Particles, and Smooth Lighting in Minecraft's Video Settings. These interact with shaders and can cause performance issues on weak hardware.

Monitor Performance

Enable the Debug Screen (F3) to watch frame time. Aim for consistent frames above 30 FPS for playable performance. If still struggling, reduce Render Distance further or lower shadow quality to minimum.
