Enable and Disable the Letterbox Effect
Accessing Shader Settings
The letterbox effect is one of High Frames Plus Shaders' signature cinematic features, but you may want to toggle it depending on your preference or gameplay situation.
How to Control Letterbox
Open your shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually accessed through your video settings or shader menu). Look for the Cinematic or Letterbox option in the settings panel.
Toggle the setting on to add black bars to the top and bottom of your screen for a widescreen movie appearance. This reduces your visible vertical screen space but creates a dramatic framing effect ideal for screenshots and exploration.
Toggle it off to return to your full screen view, which is useful during combat or when you need maximum visibility.
Performance Impact
The letterbox effect itself has minimal performance cost—it's purely visual. Disabling it won't noticeably improve frame rates, so choose based on aesthetic preference rather than performance needs. This shader is designed to maintain high frame rates regardless of this setting, making it safe to experiment with both modes.
