Optimize Performance While Keeping Visual Quality
Identifying Performance Bottlenecks
Open the shader options menu and look for settings labeled as high-impact: shadow distance, shadow resolution, and effect quality are the main performance consumers. These are your primary targets for optimization.
Balancing Quality and FPS
Start by reducing shadow distance—this dramatically improves performance while keeping shadows visible nearby. Next, lower shadow resolution if needed; this makes shadows slightly softer but frees up significant GPU resources.
If you're still experiencing lag, reduce overall effect quality or disable optional visual tweaks. The mod is designed to scale, so you can find a sweet spot between looks and playability.
Testing Performance
After each adjustment, spend a few minutes flying around your world and checking your FPS counter. Make changes incrementally rather than all at once, so you know which setting caused any performance improvement. Screenshot the same scene with different settings to visually compare the trade-off.
