Understanding the New Tool Designs
Visual Changes to Recognize
Hephaestus reshapes all tiered tools (pickaxes, axes, shovels, hoes) to visually align with sword proportions. This means the tool heads are now more blade-like and consistent across the tool category, rather than the blocky vanilla appearance.
Sword Handguards
Swords receive the most distinctive change: their handguards (the crossguard between blade and handle) are now clearly defined and visually separated from the blade itself. This makes it easier to distinguish the guard from the cutting edge at a glance.
Checking Your Tools
Open your inventory and examine any pickaxe, axe, shovel, or hoe. You'll notice:
- The tool head appears more refined and sword-like
- The connection between handle and head is smoother
- Swords have a prominent, visible crossguard
These changes are purely visual and don't affect tool functionality, durability, or mining speed. All vanilla mechanics remain unchanged.
