Troubleshoot Missing Hat Layers in the Player List
Why Some Hats Might Not Show
If you expect to see hat layers but they're missing, several factors could be involved.
Check These First
1. Verify the skin has a hat layer: Not all skins include hat-layer data. The player's skin file must have content on the hat layer to display it.
2. Confirm mod installation: Ensure Hat List Mod is in your mods folder and the game recognizes it on startup.
3. Restart your client: Close and reopen Minecraft to ensure the mod loads properly.
4. Check player skins: Ask other players if their skins include hat-layer cosmetics.
What the Mod Does and Doesn't Do
Hat List Mod only makes existing hat layers visible—it doesn't create hats or modify skins. If a player's skin has no hat-layer content, nothing will appear, even with the mod installed.
Testing
Use a skin with obvious hat-layer details (like a wide-brimmed hat or crown) to verify the mod is working. If that skin's hat displays in the tab list, the mod functions correctly.
