Using Counters, Desks, and Side Tables for Functional Rooms

Counters, Desks, and Side Tables are the mid-height furniture pieces in Handcrafted. They are decorative, but placing them thoughtfully makes rooms feel purposeful.

Counters

A Counter is a waist-height block meant to run along a kitchen or shop wall. Craft it from planks in your chosen wood and place a row of them end to end. Put a Cupboard underneath or beside the run for storage, and set a Berry Jam Jar or food item on top. Counters also work as a bar or reception desk in a multiplayer base.

Desks

A Desk is a table-height block sized for a study or office. Place it against a wall, put a Chair in front of it, and add a Shelf above for books or trophies. Desks are the natural anchor for an enchanting or map room.

Side Tables

A Side Table is a small surface that fits beside a Couch, Chair, or Fancy Bed. Use it for a lantern, a flower pot, or a jar. Because it is small, it fills awkward gaps between larger furniture without blocking movement.

Room recipes

Kitchen: Counter run plus Cupboards plus a Table. Study: Desk, Chair, Shelf, Bear Trophy. Lounge: Couch, Side Tables, and a low Table in the middle. Build each set from one wood type so the room reads as a single design.
