Making and Using Fancy Beds and Nightstands

Handcrafted adds Fancy Beds in each wood type, which are larger, more decorative beds than the vanilla one. They pair naturally with Nightstands to make a proper bedroom.

Crafting a Fancy Bed

Fancy Beds are crafted per wood type, so pick the wood that matches your house. The recipe uses that wood's planks plus the usual bed materials (wool and something for the mattress). If a recipe does not appear, check that you are using the correct plank variant — each wood has its own bed.

Placing the bed

Fancy Beds occupy more space than a vanilla bed, so clear a two-block-wide area before placing. Face the bed the direction you want to sleep from, then right-click to set your spawn point as usual. Sleeping still skips the night and works with vanilla sleep mechanics.

Adding a Nightstand

Place a Nightstand on either side of the bed. It stores a small inventory, so keep a stack of food, torches, and a spare sword inside. A Shelf above the bed or a Side Table beside it finishes the look.

Matching the room

Use the same wood for the bed frame, nightstand, and any Cupboard or Drawer in the room. Add Corner Trim to the wall corners and a Bear Trophy above the headboard if you want a hunting-lodge feel.
