How to Tame and Use the Broom Mount

The Broom is one of Grimoire of Gaia's most useful utility items, functioning as a flying mount that lets you cross terrain quickly. Getting one changes how you explore.

Obtaining a Broom

Brooms are associated with witch-type mobs in the mod. You will typically get one as a drop from defeating the relevant mob, or by crafting it if you have gathered the required materials. Check the mod's item list in your inventory's recipe viewer (JEI or similar) to see the exact recipe, since ingredients vary.

Flying It

Once you have a Broom, right-click to mount it. While riding, you can ascend and descend and steer in the direction you are looking. It is not a fast combat vehicle, so do not try to fight while mounted. Use it to scout terrain, reach floating islands, escape dangerous mobs, or travel between bases.

Practical Tips

Dismount before entering tight caves or buildings, since the Broom's hitbox can make navigation awkward. Keep an eye on your surroundings while flying, as some mod mobs can still hit you from range. If you lose your Broom, remember where you last used it or craft a replacement before heading out on long trips.
