How to Find and Defeat Anubis in Grimoire of Gaia

Anubis is one of the tougher hostile mobs added by Grimoire of Gaia, and hunting one down is a rite of passage for players who want its themed drops. You will not find him wandering the overworld during the day.

Where to Look

Anubis spawns in desert and sandy biomes, typically at night or in dark, unlit areas. Because he is a strong melee fighter, do not approach him in starter gear. Bring a full set of iron or better armor, a decent sword, and a shield if you have one. A bow helps you soften him up before he closes the distance.

Fighting Him

Anubis hits hard and can take a beating, so kite him with ranged attacks when possible. If you must melee, circle-strafe and time your swings between his attacks rather than trading hits. Watch for other desert mobs wandering into the fight, since getting surrounded is the fastest way to die. Once defeated, he drops themed loot tied to his Egyptian motif, which you can use or display.

Practical Tips

Set up a small arena or clear the area before engaging so you have room to retreat. Keep a bucket of water or blocks handy to break line of sight if your health drops. If you are farming him repeatedly, light up the surrounding area so other hostiles do not pile on.
