How to Farm Ant Mobs and Their Drops

Grimoire of Gaia adds several ant-type mobs: Ant Worker, Ant Salvager, and Ant Hill. They are a good early-game source of materials if you know where to find them and how to handle them.

Finding Ants

Ant mobs typically spawn in specific biomes or near their associated Ant Hill block. Look for sandy or grassy areas where the mod's ant structures generate. Ant Hills act as spawn points, so if you find one, you can often farm ants nearby.

Farming Them

Ant Workers and Ant Salvagers are relatively weak compared to boss mobs, so a basic iron sword and armor are enough. They often spawn in groups, so be ready for multiple attackers. Use a sweeping sword or area attacks to handle groups efficiently. Ant Hills themselves may need to be broken or interacted with to stop spawning or to collect drops.

Drops and Uses

Ant mobs drop materials that can be used in crafting or as food. Collect everything and check your recipe viewer to see what you can make. If you want a steady supply, build a small farm around an Ant Hill and harvest the ants as they spawn. Light up the area to prevent other hostile mobs from interfering.
