How to Deal with the Ghost of Player Mob
What the Ghost Is
The Gravestone Mod adds a Ghost of Player mob that can appear in connection with player deaths. It represents a lingering spirit and behaves as a mob you may encounter near graves or death sites, depending on your configuration. Treat it as a gameplay entity, not just a decoration.
Encountering and Handling It
If a Ghost of Player spawns, stay aware of your surroundings near graves and death locations. Its behavior — whether it is hostile, neutral, or passive — is governed by your config, so check that file to understand what to expect in your world. If it is hostile, treat it like any dangerous mob: keep distance, use a weapon or shield, and avoid fighting it near lava, cliffs, or other hazards where a death would cost you your gear again.
Disabling or Tuning It
If you do not want the Ghost of Player in your world, open the config and look for the option that controls ghost spawning or the mob's enabled state. Turning it off prevents new ghosts from appearing. If you want it present but less threatening, adjust its behavior or spawn settings rather than removing it entirely.
Why It Matters for Item Recovery
Because ghosts tie into the death system, an active ghost near your grave can complicate retrieval. Clear the area or disable the mob before returning for your items if it interferes. Always secure your grave first, then deal with any lingering mobs.
