Reduce Grass Movement for Better Performance
Access Performance Settings
Open Sodium video settings and find the Grassier Grass configuration panel.
Lower Computational Load
Reduce the following to improve frame rates:
- Wave Speed: Slower movement requires less calculation per frame.
- Wave Intensity: Smaller movements mean fewer shader operations.
- Wind Gust Frequency: Fewer gusts passing through means less active processing.
- Render Distance for Grass: Some versions allow you to limit how far grass effects render.
Disable if Necessary
If performance remains poor, you can disable Grassier Grass entirely from the Sodium menu and re-enable it later when performance matters less (like in single-player creative mode).
Monitor Frame Rate
After each adjustment, check your FPS counter. The grass effect is most noticeable at eye level, so test in open fields. Find the sweet spot where grass still moves noticeably but your frame rate stays stable for comfortable gameplay.
