How to Obtain Nametags Through Crafting

Why Craft Nametags?

Nametags are essential for keeping specific mobs alive permanently, preventing them from despawning. Previously, they could only be found in loot chests or purchased from wandering traders. This mod lets you craft them directly.

The Crafting Recipe

Gather the required materials and place them on your crafting table. The recipe uses common items you can obtain through normal gameplay. Use Just Enough Items to verify the exact arrangement if you're unsure.

Using Your Nametag

Once crafted, use an anvil to name your tag (optional but recommended for organization), then right-click any mob while holding the nametag to apply it. Named mobs will never despawn, even if you travel far away or the chunk unloads.

Practical Applications

Nametags are invaluable for preserving pet animals, keeping specific villagers for trading, or maintaining a personal mob farm with named specimens. With crafting access, you can now name as many mobs as your base design supports.
