Optimize Performance While Maintaining Visual Quality
Identify Performance-Heavy Features
Golden Spring's cinematic effects—especially sunbeams, bloom, and shadow softening—can impact frame rates on lower-end systems. The shader settings menu includes toggles and sliders for these features.
Disable or Reduce Intensive Effects
Start by toggling off features you notice least:
- Cinematic sunbeams: Often the most demanding; disable if frame rate drops significantly
- Bloom/Glow: Reduce intensity rather than disabling entirely to keep the shader's character
- Shadow softness: Lower the blur radius to improve performance
- Ambient occlusion: If available, reduce or disable for faster rendering
Adjust Resolution and Sampling
Look for render scale or internal resolution settings. Lowering these values improves performance while keeping the shader active. Start at 80-90% and test gameplay.
Monitor and Refine
Play in demanding areas—dense forests, large caves, or high-altitude views with many chunks loaded—to verify your changes maintain playable frame rates. You can create a "performance mode" profile with reduced settings for when you need better FPS, and a "quality mode" for when performance isn't critical.
