Spotting Ores in Dark Caves

Use the Glow to Your Advantage

With emissive textures enabled, ores now emit light in dark environments. This makes cave exploration significantly easier—you no longer need to rely solely on torches or night vision to locate valuable resources.

How to Find Ores Efficiently

1. Explore caves at any light level. The glowing effect is most noticeable in complete darkness, so venture deep into unlit caverns without fear of missing ore deposits.

2. Look for the characteristic glow color. Each ore type glows distinctly—diamond ore has its own hue, gold ore another, and so on. Learn these colors to identify resources at a glance.

3. Scan walls and ceilings. The emissive effect makes ores visible from a distance, so you can spot them before getting close. This helps you plan your mining route.

4. Mine strategically. Once you've identified ore locations by their glow, you can decide whether to mine immediately or mark them for later.

Pro Tip

The glow effect works best when you're not using maximum brightness settings. If caves still feel too dark, adjust your gamma or brightness in video settings to balance visibility with the atmospheric effect.
