How to Confirm Your Global Datapack Is Actually Running
Using the Datapack Command
The quickest verification is the /datapack list command. Open chat and run it. You will see output grouped into enabled and available datapacks. Any datapack you placed in the global_data_packs folder should show up in the enabled list, and its name will carry a modpack prefix. That prefix is added by the mod specifically so you can tell global packs apart from world datapacks.
Testing the Pack's Actual Content
Listing the pack only proves it loaded, not that its functions, recipes, or loot tables work. Test the specific feature the datapack adds. For example, if it adds a recipe, open the recipe book or craft the item manually. If it adds a function, run it via /function with the namespace the pack defines. If it changes loot tables, break the relevant block or open the relevant chest.
Troubleshooting When Nothing Shows Up
If the pack is missing from /datapack list, check these in order:
- The folder is named exactly
global_data_packsin the instance root. - The pack is not buried inside an extra subdirectory.
- The
pack.mcmetafile exists and itspack_formatmatches your game version. - The zip, if used, was not double-zipped.
Fix the structure, restart the game, and check the list again.
