Building Your First Vineyard
Getting Started with Trellises and Grapes
Begin by obtaining red or white grape cuttings from farmers, wandering traders, or village chests. Build connected trellis rows using wooden blocks of your choice, arranging them in two-block-high networks with corners and junctions as needed.
Plant a cutting on a lower trellis block and prepare the soil with compost. The vine will grow upward onto the upper trellis over time. Once mature, harvest the grapes and collect four matching grapes to press into must using the manual press.
Transfer your must into a fermentation barrel to complete a batch. After fermentation, move the liquid into an aging barrel or cask placed in a cool, dark underground cellar. Wine quality improves based on cellar conditions—maintain low light, stable temperature, and proper humidity for the best results.
