Monitor Memory Cleanup After Server Startup

Understanding the Automatic Process

GcGo Mod runs garbage collection automatically once your server finishes loading. This happens in the background without requiring any player action. The mod identifies memory allocated during mod initialization that is no longer needed and marks it for cleanup.

Checking if Cleanup Occurred

While GcGo operates silently, you can verify the mod is working by:

1. Check server logs — Look for any garbage collection messages or memory-related entries that appear shortly after the "Server started" message

2. Monitor memory usage — Use server monitoring tools or your hosting panel to observe memory consumption before and after startup completes

3. Compare baseline performance — Run your server with and without the mod to see the difference in post-startup memory footprint

Windows-Specific Behavior

If you're running the server on Windows, GcGo performs additional optimization steps to attempt freeing physical RAM back to the system. This may result in slightly lower memory usage reported by Windows Task Manager compared to servers on other operating systems.
