How to Use Your Garfield Totem in Combat

Equipping Your Totem

The Garfield Totem of Undying functions identically to the vanilla totem. Keep it in your offhand slot (secondary hand) or main inventory for automatic activation when you take fatal damage.

Activation and Effect

When you would normally die from any damage source—fall damage, mob attacks, fire, drowning, or explosions—the totem automatically activates. You'll see the familiar totem activation animation and particle effects, but now featuring Garfield's cheerful orange face instead of the standard design.

The totem restores your health to a safe level and grants you temporary status effects including fire resistance and regeneration, giving you crucial seconds to escape danger.

Best Practices

Always carry your Garfield totem when exploring dangerous areas like caves, the Nether, or the End. The totem consumes itself upon activation, so you'll need a replacement ready. Keep multiple totems in your inventory or ender chest for extended expeditions. Remember that the totem only saves you once per activation—plan your escape route carefully after it triggers.
