How to Fight Infected Humans and Infected Villagers Safely
Know What You Are Fighting
Both Infected Humans and Infected Villagers are melee combatants. Their only attack is contact damage, and every blow inflicts the Mycelium Effect. There is no ranged attack and no special ability to dodge — the danger is entirely in letting them touch you repeatedly.
Combat Approach
1. Fight at range first. Bows, crossbows, and thrown weapons let you thin a group before it closes, which removes the contact-damage problem entirely.
2. When you must melee, use reach. The mod's weapons are compatible with Better Combat, so use the extended swing arcs and attack timing rather than spam-clicking.
3. Never let yourself get surrounded. Backpedal in a straight line so infected mobs stack up in front of you instead of flanking. Contact damage from three sides is how players die here.
4. Prioritize Infected Villagers in a mixed group. They are the ones that convert your own villagers, so removing them first prevents the fight from growing.
5. Disengage the moment you take a Mycelium hit. Fighting through a fresh infection just compounds the problem.
Armor Matters
Wear the mod's armor set for infected clearing. It is designed around this specific threat and reduces how punishing each contact hit becomes.
