Improve visibility in caves and dark areas
Why caves are still dark
Fullsight Shaders removes shadows and fog, but doesn't automatically brighten unlit spaces. Caves and enclosed areas still rely on your light level and torch placement.
Steps to see better underground
1. Carry extra torches – Place them liberally as you explore. Fullsight's flat lighting means torches cast light evenly without shadow gradients, so placement matters more.
2. Use brightness settings – Check your Minecraft video settings and increase Brightness to maximum. Without shader shadows, this won't create harsh contrasts.
3. Wear a helmet with light – If your mod setup includes light-emitting armor or items, equip them. The flat rendering makes ambient light sources more effective.
4. Mine toward the surface – Fullsight excels at distance visibility. Dig upward to reach lit areas faster, then work downward from there.
5. Consider a complementary shader – If cave exploration is your main activity, Fullsight may not be ideal. You might pair it with a minimal-performance shader that keeps *some* ambient occlusion.
Fullsight prioritizes speed over atmospheric lighting, so manual illumination becomes your primary tool.
