Troubleshooting Full Brightness Toggle Not Working

If pressing the toggle key does nothing or the brightness reverts immediately, work through these checks in order.

Quick Checks

  • Confirm you are in a loaded world and not on a loading screen or pause menu.
  • Open Options > Controls and verify the toggle still has a key assigned; updates and config resets can clear it.
  • Look for a keybind conflict with another mod and reassign one of them.
  • Check that the mod is present for the exact game version and mod loader you launched.

Brightness Looks Wrong

  • If the world looks washed out or too bright even after toggling off, your base brightness or gamma setting may already be high. Lower it in Options > Video Settings and toggle again.
  • Shaders and some rendering mods override brightness, so the toggle may appear to have no effect while a shader pack is active. Disable the shader to test.
  • Resource packs that change lighting or fog can also mask the effect.

Still Broken

  • Remove other client-side visual mods one at a time to isolate a conflict.
  • Recreate the instance or profile if the config file appears corrupted.
  • If it works in a fresh world but not an existing one, the issue is likely another mod in that instance rather than the toggle itself.
