Optimize FreeVibrant for Your PC
Identify Your Hardware Tier
Determine whether you're running a low-end, mid-range, or older laptop. FreeVibrant is designed to run on potato PCs, but optimization still matters for smooth gameplay.
Lower Performance-Heavy Settings
Start by reducing:
- Shadow Distance: Set to minimum if playing on very old hardware.
- Ambient Occlusion: Disable or reduce if frame rate dips below playable levels.
- Volumetric Lighting: Turn off if caves and interiors cause lag.
- Reflection Quality: Lower or disable water/reflective surface effects.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 (debug screen) to watch FPS while exploring different biomes. Caves and water areas are typically most demanding. Adjust settings incrementally—change one option, test for 30 seconds, then adjust the next.
Preserve Visual Quality
Keep shadow rendering enabled at reduced distance rather than disabling it entirely. This maintains FreeVibrant's signature clean shadow aesthetic while keeping your PC responsive. The shader's vanilla-style design means even minimal settings look cohesive.
