Adjust Shadow Quality and Intensity
Access Shader Settings
Open your shader options menu while in-game. This is typically found in Video Settings > Shaders > Shader Options, though the exact path depends on your launcher.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles. Common adjustments include:
- Shadow Distance: Controls how far shadows render from your character. Lower values improve performance on older PCs; higher values create more immersive lighting across distant terrain.
- Shadow Softness: Adjusts the blur and edge quality of shadows. Softer shadows look more natural but cost slightly more performance.
- Shadow Intensity: Controls how dark shadows appear. Increase for dramatic contrast, decrease for subtler lighting.
Test Your Changes
Apply settings and walk through different environments—caves, forests, and open areas—to see how shadows interact with terrain and structures. Pay attention to how caves are lit; FreeVibrant maintains visibility in dark spaces while preserving shadow depth.
If performance drops, reduce shadow distance or softness first. These changes have the biggest impact on frame rate while maintaining the shader's clean aesthetic.
