Understand Why Your Screen Goes Black

The Rendering Trade-Off

When you use /fps max, your screen turns black because the mod is making a deliberate choice about what to prioritize.

How It Works

Normally, your GPU spends most of its processing power drawing:

  • Terrain and blocks
  • Mobs and players
  • Items and particles
  • Lighting and shadows
  • UI elements

When you activate maximum FPS mode, the mod unloads all visual content except the bare minimum. This frees up enormous processing power, allowing your frame counter to cycle much faster.

The Black Screen Explained

Your screen is black because there's literally nothing for the game to display. The mod isn't rendering the world at all—it's only updating game logic and counting frames. Your character still exists in the world and can move around, but you have no visual feedback.

Performance vs. Playability

This is why the mod is a joke: maximum frames mean zero playability. You can't see where you're going, what you're doing, or what's around you. It's a humorous demonstration that frame rate alone doesn't equal a better gaming experience.
