How to Fix a Mod That Requires Fabric API on NeoForge

You installed a Fabric mod on NeoForge, and it crashed or refused to load because it depends on Fabric API. Forgified Fabric API exists to bridge that gap, but it only works when the mod is actually compatible with the port.

Check the Dependency Chain

First, confirm the mod you want is a Fabric mod that lists Fabric API as a dependency. Open your mods folder and look at the mod's metadata (many launchers show dependencies when you hover or click the mod). If it requires Fabric API, Forgified Fabric API can often satisfy that requirement on NeoForge.

Install and Order Correctly

Place Forgified Fabric API in the same mods folder as the Fabric mod you are trying to run. Do not rename it. Launch the game and watch the loading log. If the game still crashes, read the crash report: Forgified Fabric API adds extra information to crash reports, so the missing class or method will usually be named there.

When It Still Fails

Not every Fabric mod works through this bridge. Mods that rely on Fabric Loader internals, mixins targeting Fabric-specific classes, or Fabric-only rendering hooks may still fail. In that case, the mod itself needs a NeoForge port. Forgified Fabric API is a compatibility layer, not a universal converter, so treat a persistent crash as a sign the mod is genuinely incompatible rather than something you configured wrong.
