Optimizing Performance on Low-End PCs
Disable Unnecessary Features
For the Real Potatoes Shaders includes optional visual effects that can be toggled. In Shader Options, turn off any advanced features like volumetric lighting or enhanced water reflections if your frame rate drops below your target.
Reduce Render Distance
Lower your render distance in Video Settings. This is one of the most impactful changes you can make. The shader still applies to closer chunks, so you won't lose the visual improvements—just the range.
Monitor Performance
Enable the frame counter (usually F3 key) to see your current FPS. Aim for a stable frame rate rather than maximum visual quality. This shader is built to look good even at lower settings.
Combine with Other Optimizations
Reduce particle effects and entity shadows in Video Settings. Disable clouds if needed. These changes work alongside the shader to keep your game running smoothly without sacrificing the improved lighting that makes this shader worthwhile.
