Optimize Frame Rate on Lower-End Hardware
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Check your current frame rate using the debug screen (F3). Footage Shaders includes several features that impact performance: global illumination, water reflections, and grass animation. Determine which settings affect your system most.
Reduce Intensive Features
Access shader options and disable or lower:
- Global Illumination: This bounces light realistically but costs performance. Reduce quality or disable entirely.
- Water Reflections: Switch to a lower reflection quality setting.
- Grass Animation: Disable wind effects on vegetation if needed.
- Shadow Distance: Decrease the render distance for shadows.
Adjust Render Distance
Lower your chunk render distance in video settings. Footage Shaders performs better at 8-12 chunks on modest hardware. Combine this with reduced shader complexity for smoother gameplay. Test incrementally—disable one feature at a time and measure frame rate changes to find the best balance between visuals and performance for your specific graphics card.
