Adjust VHS Static and Tape Line Intensity
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the key bound to shader settings (usually accessed through video settings). Look for the Footage Shaders configuration panel.
Customize Visual Effects
Locate the VHS effect sliders:
- Static Amount: Controls how much grain and noise appears on screen. Lower values create a cleaner feed; higher values intensify the old tape look.
- Scan Lines: Adjusts the horizontal lines that simulate CRT monitor artifacts. Increase for a more authentic VHS appearance.
- Chromatic Aberration: Adds color separation at screen edges, mimicking aged camera lenses.
Fine-Tune for Your Preference
Start with moderate settings and adjust incrementally. If you're creating horror content, push static and scan lines higher for maximum grittiness. For survival gameplay where you want atmosphere without distraction, reduce these values. Test your changes in different lighting conditions—caves, forests, and bright areas will show different effects. Remember that changes apply immediately, so you can preview adjustments in real-time without restarting.
