Reduce Lag from Dense Forests
Understanding Performance Optimization
Folium Frond Expansion includes built-in optimizations to prevent performance drops in thick forests. The mod removes hidden leaf block faces that players can't see, reducing the geometry sent to your graphics card.
How Hidden Face Removal Works
When two leaf blocks touch, the faces between them are invisible. The mod detects these interior faces and doesn't render them, cutting unnecessary draw calls without changing how forests look.
Additional Tips for Better Performance
- Reduce render distance if you experience frame drops in large forests
- Lower graphics settings (Fancy → Fast foliage) to reduce shader complexity
- Disable LabPBR normal maps if your GPU struggles (check mod settings if available)
- Use a lighter resource pack — high-resolution packs compound the mod's geometry
What to Expect
Dense vanilla forests should feel smoother than unmodded Minecraft, since the mod actively culls invisible surfaces. Performance depends on your hardware and other mods installed.
