Customize Foliage Appearance with Variations
How Variation Works
Folium Frond Expansion adds position, depth, and rotation variations to leaf blocks automatically. This prevents forests from looking repetitive by subtly shifting how each foliage block renders.
What Gets Varied
- Position shifts — leaves offset slightly within their block space
- Depth layering — multiple leaf planes stack at different distances
- Rotation — leaf geometry rotates on different axes per block
These changes are applied per-block and per-frame, ensuring no two adjacent leaves render identically.
Controlling Variation Intensity
If your mod has configuration options:
- Check for variation or "density" settings in the mod menu or config file
- Higher values create more dramatic differences between neighboring blocks
- Lower values create subtler, more uniform forests
Visual Result
Forests appear softer and more natural, with depth and movement even when standing still. Canopies feel fuller without looking artificially tiled or repetitive. This effect works automatically across vanilla and modded trees.
