Building with Flat Lighting for Better Aesthetic Control
Why Builders Prefer Flat Lighting
Flat Lighting removes automatic shading that can obscure your color choices and design intent. This makes it easier to:
- See true block colors without shadow interference
- Plan color schemes and palettes accurately
- Evaluate how blocks look next to each other
- Create consistent-looking structures
Building Strategy
When constructing with flat lighting enabled:
1. Color Selection: Choose blocks based on their actual color, not how shading affects them
2. Texture Layering: Use varied block types to create visual interest without relying on shading
3. Lighting Design: Add your own lighting (torches, lamps, etc.) to create intentional shadows and highlights
4. Detail Work: Small architectural details become clearer without shading interference
Finishing Touches
After building with flat lighting, consider toggling it off temporarily to see how your creation looks with default shading. This helps you identify areas that might need additional detail or lighting to look good in both modes.
