Understanding Background Snapshot Capture

How Automatic Capture Works

The Final Moments Archive Mod runs silently in the background while you play, automatically taking snapshots of your game state at regular intervals. You don't need to enable or configure anything—capture happens automatically during normal gameplay.

Storage and Performance

The mod stores up to a maximum number of frames per world to keep memory usage reasonable (roughly 100 MB per world). Old snapshots are automatically cleared after each death replay to prevent your storage from filling up. This automatic cleanup means the mod won't significantly impact your hard drive space over time.

What Gets Captured

Snapshots record your position, surroundings, and recent actions. When you die, these stored moments are stitched together into the replay sequence. The further back the capture goes, the longer your death replay will be.

Client-Side Only

All capture and storage happens on your computer. If you're playing on a multiplayer server, the mod works independently on your client without requiring any special server configuration or affecting other players.
