Faux Custom Entity Data Mod Guide

Storing Custom Data on Entities and Players

The Faux Custom Entity Data Mod is a small, single-purpose mod built around one idea: letting entities carry extra data with them while they exist in the world. It provides an API that other mods can use to attach custom data to in-game entities, and that data is preserved for as long as the entity is alive.

The same API also supports persistent data on players. This means information attached to a player can survive death and be restored afterward, rather than being lost when the player respawns.

When data is stored, it is written to file alongside the entity. When that data is read back, the system restores it automatically, so the attached information returns with the entity it belongs to.

This mod does not add items, blocks, or recipes on its own. Its purpose is to give other mods a way to keep custom entity and player data intact, which is what makes longer-lived, more continuous gameplay possible.
