Avoid lag spikes when teleporting
Why FastRTP prevents lag
Standard Minecraft teleportation can cause lag spikes because the server loads chunks, renders terrain, and processes entity updates all at once. FastRTP is optimized to spread this load smoothly, preventing the sudden frame drops players experience with other teleport methods.
Best practices for smooth teleporting
Teleport to areas that are already loaded or partially loaded when possible. Avoid teleporting to the far edges of your world border repeatedly, as this forces constant chunk generation. If your server has many players, coordinate teleport times to avoid everyone teleporting simultaneously.
Server configuration
Your server administrator can fine-tune FastRTP's performance settings. These might include chunk loading speed, teleport animation smoothness, and whether to preload destination chunks. Ask them to optimize these for your server's hardware.
Monitoring performance
If you notice lag during teleports despite using FastRTP, check whether your server is running other resource-heavy mods or plugins. FastRTP itself is lightweight, but conflicts with other systems can reduce its efficiency. Report persistent issues to your admin.
