Create Seamless Slopes Using Path Blocks
Understanding Path Block Slopes
Path blocks allow you to walk up them without jumping, eliminating the need for stairs or slabs on your routes. This creates smooth, continuous travel surfaces that maintain your Speed II momentum.
Building Effective Slopes
1. Decide your elevation change and plan a gentle gradient
2. Place path blocks in a staircase pattern, rising one block per block of horizontal distance
3. For steeper terrain, increase the horizontal distance between each vertical step
4. Test walking up your slope—you should ascend smoothly without jumping
5. Extend the slope length if you encounter issues; gentler angles are more reliable
Design Tips
Avoid creating slopes steeper than 1:1 (one block up per one block forward), as these may require jumping. For major elevation changes, create longer, gentler slopes rather than short steep ones. You can combine multiple slope sections with flat path sections in between for variety.
Slopes built this way integrate naturally into your landscape and maintain the Speed II bonus throughout, making them superior to traditional stair designs for travel routes.
