Fixing Slow or Laggy Crafting at a Workbench
First, check where you are crafting
Fast Workbench only speeds up the vanilla crafting table. If you are crafting in the 2x2 grid in your player inventory, or at a modded crafting station, this mod will not help. Move to a vanilla workbench to see the benefit.
Steps to get fast crafting
1. Place a vanilla crafting table and open it.
2. Manually place the ingredients for the recipe you want into the grid.
3. Take the crafted result out once so the mod caches that recipe.
4. Now shift-click the output slot to craft the same recipe repeatedly. The cached recipe is checked first, so each craft skips the full registry scan and the batch runs much faster.
5. If you change to a different recipe, craft it once manually so the cache updates, then shift-click as before.
If it still feels slow
- Confirm you are not crafting in the player inventory grid, which is not optimized.
- Confirm you are not using a modded crafting station, which handles its own caching and is outside this mod's scope.
- Remember that the very first craft of any new recipe is always a normal registry scan; only repeats of the same recipe benefit from the cache.
Why this works
The mod's whole purpose is to check the last-used recipe before rescanning everything, which is what makes repeated shift-click crafting fast.
