Fast Noise Mod: What It Does and How It Helps

Faster Noise Generation

Fast Noise Mod is a small performance mod that targets the internal work Minecraft does during noise-based world generation. It does not add new blocks, items, or biomes. Instead, it speeds up processes that already run in the background while terrain is being shaped.

The mod focuses on two areas. First, it makes resizing of the PalettedContainer faster. This container stores block state data, and it grows repeatedly as chunks are generated, so quicker resizing reduces overhead during that process. Second, it improves block state updates that happen during noise-based generation, cutting down on unnecessary work as terrain is written.

The result is smoother, faster world generation, which is most noticeable when exploring new areas or generating large amounts of terrain at once. Because the mod only optimizes existing mechanics, it should behave the same as vanilla in terms of what terrain you get. It is a drop-in performance tweak rather than a content mod.
