Troubleshoot Lag and Performance Issues

Identify the Problem

If you experience frame rate drops after installing Farsight Mod, the most likely cause is rendering too many distant chunks simultaneously. Your graphics card and CPU must process more terrain data than before.

Reduce Maximum Distance

Lower the mod's maximum chunk retention distance in your configuration. Even a modest reduction (5–10 chunks) can significantly improve performance. Start conservative and increase gradually.

Adjust Graphics Settings

Reduce other demanding settings: lower render quality, decrease entity rendering distance, or disable fancy graphics. These changes work alongside Farsight to maintain playable frame rates.

Monitor Memory Usage

Farsight stores chunk data in memory. If your system has limited RAM, the mod may cause stuttering. Close unnecessary background applications or reduce the maximum distance further.

Test in Different Locations

Performance varies by terrain complexity. Dense forests or areas with many blocks render slower than open plains. If lag only occurs in specific biomes, your system is near its limit—reduce distance or graphics settings accordingly.
