Preserve Loaded Chunks When Server Unloads Them

Understand Client-Side Chunk Retention

Farsight Mod automatically saves chunks your client has loaded. Once you've explored an area and your client has received that chunk data from the server, the mod stores it locally. Even when the server unloads those chunks (because you've moved away), your game remembers them.

Revisit Previously Explored Areas

When you return to a location you've already visited, the mod displays the cached chunk data without waiting for the server to reload it. This creates a seamless experience where distant terrain remains visible.

Limitations to Remember

The mod can only display chunks the server has sent you. If you've never visited an area, the server must load it first—the mod cannot generate or load chunks independently. Additionally, real-time changes made by other players in unloaded chunks won't appear until the server reloads those chunks and sends updates.

Manage Storage

Chunk data is stored on your client. Very large exploration areas may consume disk space, but the mod typically handles this efficiently for normal gameplay.
