Make Your Resource Pack Compatible with Fantasy.VT Shaders

Understanding PBR Texture Support

Fantasy.VT Shaders supports PBR (Physically Based Rendering) textures, which means your resource pack can include extra texture files that add shine, roughness, and surface detail to blocks. This makes materials look more realistic—shiny metal, rough stone, or polished wood.

Setting Up Your Resource Pack

To use PBR with Fantasy.VT, your resource pack needs to include additional texture maps alongside standard textures:

  • Specular/Metallic maps define which surfaces are shiny
  • Normal maps add bumpy surface detail without extra geometry
  • Roughness maps control how reflective surfaces are

Place these extra texture files in your resource pack's texture folders following the naming convention your shader expects (typically suffixes like _s, _n, or _r).

Testing Your Pack

Load your resource pack with Fantasy.VT enabled. Look at blocks in different lighting—you should see enhanced surface details and reflections on materials like metal ores, polished stone, or water. If textures appear flat or colors seem wrong, check that your PBR files match the resolution and format of your base textures.

Not all resource packs include PBR support; standard packs will still work fine with the shader's default appearance.
