Adjust Lighting and Shadow Direction in Fantasy.VT
How Shadows Follow the Sky
Fantasy.VT automatically generates soft shadows that move with the sun and moon as they travel across the sky. You don't manually set shadow direction—the shader calculates it based on the time of day in your world.
Observing Shadow Changes
Watch how shadows shift throughout a Minecraft day:
- Morning and evening: Shadows stretch long across the ground
- Noon: Shadows fall nearly straight down from objects
- Night: Moonlight casts softer, dimmer shadows
This happens automatically without any configuration needed.
Optimizing Your View
If shadows seem too harsh or too faint, check your shader settings menu (usually accessed via a key like F7 or through your shader options). Most shader menus let you adjust shadow intensity or softness. You can also control overall brightness through Minecraft's brightness slider, which works alongside the shader's lighting.
Build during different times of day to see how the cartoon-style lighting affects your structures. The soft shadows complement the fantasy aesthetic and help emphasize your builds' shapes without harsh realism.
