Hide Your Custom Name from the Player List or World

Controlling Where Your Styled Name Appears

Fancy Name Mod lets you toggle your custom name visibility in different locations independently, giving you control over where your style shows.

Steps

1. Open the mod's settings or configuration menu (usually accessible from the pause menu or main menu)

2. Look for options labeled "Hide in Player List" or "Hide in World"

3. Toggle the option you want:

  • Hide in Player List: Your custom name won't appear in the tab player list; others see your original name there
  • Hide in World: Your custom name won't display above your character; chat messages still show the styled version

4. Save your settings

Use Cases

Hide your name in the player list if you prefer a cleaner tab menu. Hide it in the world if you want your style to appear only in chat. You can enable both options simultaneously for a fully vanilla appearance while still showing your custom name to others in chat messages. These settings apply immediately without requiring a server restart.
