How to Fix Lag Caused by Fancy Block Particles
Identify the Heavy Effect
The mod's 3D cubes are more expensive than vanilla sprites, especially when many blocks break at once, such as while mining with a fast tool or during explosions. If your framerate dips in those moments, the block breaking category is usually the culprit. Weather particles are lighter but still add up during heavy rain or snowfall.
Reduce Load in the Config
Open the mod config and work through these in order:
- Lower the particle density or count slider for block breaking.
- Reduce the lifetime of ground particles so fewer cubes stay rendered at once.
- Disable block placing particles first, since they are the least noticeable.
- If needed, disable block breaking entirely and keep only weather effects.
Other Things That Help
- Lower your overall Minecraft particle setting; the mod respects the vanilla particle option in many cases.
- Reduce render distance, since distant particles still cost performance.
- Avoid stacking the mod with other particle-heavy mods that also spawn cubes or debris.
Test after each change by breaking a stack of blocks in a row and watching your framerate. Stop adjusting once it is stable.
