Create Custom Gem Bonuses with Data Packs

Prerequisites

Ensure you have both Fallen Lib and Apotheosis installed on version 1.20.1. Gem bonuses are defined through data packs, not in-game crafting.

Setting Up Your Data Pack

Create a new data pack folder in your world's datapacks directory. Inside, establish the structure: data/apotheosis/gem_bonus/ (or your chosen namespace).

Defining Gem Bonuses

Create JSON files in the gem_bonus folder to register custom bonuses. Each file defines a unique gem bonus with its identifier, display name, and mechanical effects. The JSON structure specifies which stats or attributes the gem modifies when socketed into gear.

Applying to Gems

Once your data pack is loaded (reload with /reload), the custom bonuses become available to gems in Apotheosis. Socket gems into gear to apply your custom bonuses during gameplay.

Testing

Use creative mode to quickly test gem combinations. Verify that bonuses apply correctly to different gear types and that values scale as intended. Adjust your JSON files and reload as needed to refine behavior.
