Troubleshoot connection issues between Prometheus and your server

Check if the exporter is running

1. Verify your Minecraft server is running and the mod is loaded (check server logs for Fabric Exporter startup messages)

2. Confirm the port in exporter.properties matches what you added to Prometheus config

3. Test connectivity from your Prometheus machine:

`

curl http://YOUR_SERVER_IP:YOUR_PORT/metrics

`

You should see Prometheus-format metrics output. If this fails, check firewall rules.

Fix Prometheus configuration

1. Verify the IP address and port in prometheus.yml are correct

2. Check for YAML syntax errors (indentation matters)

3. Restart Prometheus after any config changes: sudo systemctl restart prometheus

4. Check Prometheus logs for errors: sudo journalctl -u prometheus -n 50

5. In Prometheus web UI, go to Status → Targets to see if your job shows as UP or DOWN

If the target shows DOWN, the connection is failing. Double-check firewall settings and ensure both machines can reach each other on the specified port.
