Customizing Item Display Names
The /itemname command lets you rename any item in a player's inventory, useful for quest items, magical artifacts, or server lore.
Renaming an Item
1. Hold the item you want to rename in your hand
2. Use: /itemname <new_name>
3. The item's display name updates immediately
Example: /itemname Excalibur renames your held sword to Excalibur.
Adding Colors to Item Names
Use color codes with & to make item names stand out:
/itemname &c&lFlaming Swordcreates a bold red name/itemname &bMystic Staffcreates a cyan name- Combine formatting codes:
&l(bold),&o(italic),&n(underline)
Clearing a Custom Name
To remove a custom name and revert to the default item name, use: /itemname with no arguments while holding the item.
Practical Uses
Custom item names are perfect for:
- Marking special quest items
- Creating unique weapons or tools for roleplay
- Organizing inventory in creative builds
- Adding atmosphere to adventure maps
Custom names persist on items even when dropped or moved between inventories.
