Give a Player a Custom Nickname

Using the /name Command

Custom nicknames let you personalize how a player appears to everyone on your server. This is useful for roleplay, pranks, or simply making names more memorable.

Setting a Nickname

1. Use the command: /name <player> <nickname>

2. Replace <player> with the target player's username

3. Replace <nickname> with what you want them called

4. Press Enter to apply

Example: /name Steve BuildMaster will change Steve's display name to BuildMaster.

Adding Colors to Nicknames

You can make nicknames colorful using color codes:

  • Use & followed by a color code (like &c for red, &a for green, &b for cyan)
  • Combine multiple codes in one nickname: /name Steve &c&lRed Builder creates a bold red name

Removing a Nickname

To reset a player's name back to their original username, use: /name <player> <original_username>

Nicknames apply immediately and are visible to all players on the server. Changes persist until manually altered.
