Extra Thicc Packets Mod Guide

What Extra Thicc Packets Does

Extra Thicc Packets is a small, single-purpose mod that changes the maximum size limit for Minecraft network packets. By default, packets are capped at a relatively small size, which can cause problems when a server sends large amounts of data to a client in a single packet. When that limit is exceeded, the client is kicked from the server.

This mod raises the packet size ceiling dramatically, from the default limit up to a much larger value. The practical effect is that large datapacks, particularly ones used by mods like Origins, can be transmitted to clients without triggering a disconnect. Instead of the client being kicked for receiving an oversized packet, the data is delivered normally and gameplay continues.

The mod is useful on both servers and clients, since the packet size limit applies to the connection between them. It does not add items, blocks, or recipes — it only adjusts how much data can travel in a single packet, making it a compatibility fix rather than a content mod.
